
2019/20 Season Wrap Up
Hi Cubbies,
Well what a few weeks we have had! In the first instance we hope you are keeping safe under these crazy times.
As a wrap up of the 2019/20 season the committee and I would like to thank every member of the club for their support. It truly takes an army to run a volunteer organisation! A major shout out and big thank you to our coaches, umpires, scorers, managers; you guys do an amazing job. A massive thank you to Terry and Lynda for your contributions at the canteen each week…truly incredible!
Season Highlights
Not the way we wanted to end up finishing the season but here are a few key highlights.
• The clubhouse finally started being built! (Due mid-year)
• The club continues to maintain solid numbers as the largest club on the GC with a view to drive this higher next year.
• Junior team divisions LL Majors, IL, JL and SL all placing top 4 for the first time.
• LL Majors crowned champions and IL runners Up.
• Import players coaching at all levels. Junior players coaching younger age groups.
• Senior GBL squad saw both Div1 and 2 make the playoffs in only 3rd season. Remarkable!
• GCBA Seniors comp – Coomera Green runners up.
• Greatest number of representatives at all levels we have ever had. Australia, QLD, NSW Country, Gold Coast, QLD and regional Schoolboys, Softball honours too!
• Seeing our young reps achieving QLD U16 National Champs and U18 Runners-up titles.
• Introduction of Female Pathway coordinator role.
• 34 articles in the GC Bulletin about the club and its players.
• Continuation and development of Cubs TV.
• Another successful GC Summer Classic run.
Club Person of the Year Award
The Club Person of the Year Award is awarded and presented annually to a Coomera Cubs Baseball Club (CCBC) member in recognition of performing above and beyond the call of duty in a voluntary capacity during the year for the overall benefit of the club and its members
This person has been judged to have made the most significant contribution to the health, welfare and improvement of the club and its members.
2019/20 Club Person of the Year – Jodie Sippel
Junior Player of the Year
Criteria: This award is available to any Junior player (from Little League to U20). This award is given to a Junior player that shows among other things outstanding commitment to the club, his or her team and coaching staff. Consistently leading on and off the field with an endeavour to continually improve themselves. This player must show outstanding sportsmanship both when winning and in defeat. This award should be what all our Junior players should aspire too.
